MAKE-UP AND BLEMISH-PRONE SKIN:
A LOVE-HATE RELATIONSHIP
What is the best make-up for acne-prone skin?
Over 90% of women suffer from complexion problems such as acne pimples, shine, blackhead and enlarged pores. Their first reflex? Turn to make-up to hide their acne, redness and marks. But some make-up can clog pores and actually make them much more visible. That’s why we’ve done this guide to creating a flawless complexion in spite of your oily to combination skin… No matter how sensitive it is.
YOUR OILY AND ACNE-PRONE
MAKE-UP TUTORIAL
The right make-up products and techniques for acne-prone skin
- Prepare skin by cleansing with EFFACLAR Purifying Foaming Gel and applying a soothing cream like EFFACLAR Duo (+).
- If you prefer a compact, take a small amount of a mineral compact foundation onto the sponge and dab onto the centre of your face and T-zone, before blending outwards towards the periphery. That way you will have the most coverage where you need it (as pores are more dilated and blemish-prone in the centre of the face).
- For localised blemishes, fold the sponge in half for extra precision, take some extra product onto the sponge and pat directly over the blemish, gently blending outwards.
- For liquid foundation application: As with the mineral foundation, start by dabbing product onto the centre of your face and blend outwards for a seamless finish. You can use your fingers or a kabuki brush to spread the formula without creating streaks or friction. You can then layer the product to achieve the desired level of coverage.
- If you have individual spots in need of targeted coverage, or dark circles, choose a corrective concealer pen: Green to neutralise redness, yellow to illuminate dark circles and beige to mask and even out skin imperfections. Dot the pen over the area to conceal and blend with your fingertip.
HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT
SHADE OF MAKE-UP?
Choosing the right shade of concealer or foundation can be challenging for women with blemish-prone skin because they have several different colours of skin on their face: Blemishes, redness, dark circles and normal skin. To choose the right foundation shade, look for a healthy area of skin on your jawline and test the product there. If it matches, you’re good to go.
